What You Should Know
About
St. Mary School
What Parents Have
Said
“It took us two years to make the
decision to move our three children to St. Mary; this is
our first year. They are in grades 4th, 5th, and 7th. It
has turned out to be even better than we had hoped for.
My only regret is that we didn't do it sooner.” Jay
and Lois Black
“My
husband and I moved here six years ago, and enrolled
our children in public schools. During a play
group, a mom of St. Mary students told me that we
should consider sending the kids to St. Mary. She
explained to me that going to St. Mary was like
being part of a large family, that you will have 200
parents looking out for your children. Well, I
couldn't have explained it better! Our youngest
daughter attended 3-, 4- and 5-year old preschool,
and is now in first grade. Our older two kids are in
7th and 8th grades. Every school has bumps along
the way, but to have the opportunity to attend
school and practice your faith together is such a
blessing. It was the best decision that we could
have made for us and our children.”

“We
currently have two children enrolled at St. Mary.
Every morning when it’s freezing out and the public
school bus pulls right up to our door and the
neighbor kids all pile in, I have to wonder is
driving a 40 minute round trip commute to St. Mary's
school every morning worth it? And then as I bundle
everyone up, drive the snowy roads and the long
commute, and I pull into the school parking lot and
see the cross standing high and being greeted by
smiles from parents doing the same thing. Yes, it’s
worth it. We love the school and the commitment of
the staff. The teachers and educators of St. Mary
are there because they want to be there, and be part
of the St. Mary family. These are just a few of the
reasons why we continue to go the extra mile (pun
intended) to be at St. Mary.” Annette Wilson |

What the Michigan
Nonpublic School Accrediting Association Has Said
“St. Mary Catholic School
presented a very positive, warm, child-centered
atmosphere. The quality of the school climate is
excellent. Everyone works to create a nurturing, caring,
Christian environment. Parents and students feel
welcomed and are regarded as individuals. Specific
efforts are made to create a “family” atmosphere, to
build community, and to provide opportunities for family
activities.”

Report, MNSAA, April 2005

What Does Student Testing
Say?

Assessment Program (MEAP) tests taken by St. Mary
seventh and eighth graders outperformed the average
scores for students across the state of Michigan in
every category both in fall 2005 and 2006. St. Mary
outperformed its neighboring school district in all nine
categories in 2005, and six of nine categories (seventh
grade math, reading, and English language arts; eighth
grade math, reading, and English language arts) in 2006
